Norfolk Southern is selling locomotives that have been retired out of service. Make plans to attend the dinner the night before the auction at 6:30 pm.
Blackmon Auctions will host a dinner for all buyers that have made the trip to the auction. Please contact Thomas Blackmon at 501-352-4702 for more information and to confirm your attendance.
The auction location will be at a conference room at 240 Material Yard Road in Roanoke, Virginia. We will have our auction trailer set up next to that room so look for the Blackmon Auction Office and that will be the location for the auction on August 17th. The auction will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will go in order of company number. Locomotives will sell first, passenger cars second, and locomotive parts last.
Inspection of Equipment:
*IMPORTANT* the locomotives will be lined up in the Norfolk Southern yard along one track and inspection will be by appointment only. There will not be any exceptions because you have to have a NS representative let you into the yard.
The inspection will be August 14th to the 16th, 2017 ONLY. No other times will be allowed. Check in will be at 2115 Westview AVE SW Roanoke, VA. Be there early and wait for a NS Rep to escort you onto the yard.
Payment must be made IN FULL on the day of the sale. All buyers must have a letter of credit from their banking institution in order to register. This is required of ALL BUYERS at this auction. No exceptions please.
There will be a 5% buyer’s commission per unit. Removal of Locomotives: Locomotives will be moved on the Norfolk Southern tracks for free. Anything that needs to be done to make the locomotives track ready will be at the expense of the buyer.
